THOUSANDS OF MORONS THINK VIN DIESEL IS PLAYING THE VISION IN AVENGERS 2

Yesterday, actor Vin Diesel posted a picture of Marvel Comics character The Vision as his profile photo on Facebook, so of course, thousands of people instantly assumed that meant he was going to play the heroic android in Avengers 2. Apparently, Diesel often uses photos of his previous roles as profile pictures, which kickstarted the casting rumor.

Obviously, Vin is not playing the character because A.) There is no screenplay yet, which means that no one even knows if The Vision will be in the film, and B.) Even if  Joss Whedon were to write The Vision into the script, I trust he would have enough sense to cast someone far more appropriate in the role. Someone who could, you know, act.

By the way, if you haven’t “Liked” Vin Diesel’s Facebook page, you are missing out on some awesome and insane inspirational photoshopped images (all of Vin, naturally) that look like the kind of thing a teenager would splatter all over their MySpace page in 2004. Here’s a sampling of the magic:

Jeff Carter

Jeff is the defining voice of his generation. Sadly, that generation exists only in an alternate dimension where George Lucas became supreme overlord of the Earth in 1979 and replaced every television broadcast and theatrical film on the planet with Star Wars and Godzilla movies. In this dimension, he’s just a guy from New England who likes writing snarky things about superheroes, monsters, and robots.

I really hope we see more female characters in the next Avengers flick. Scarlet Witch may be tough, but I believe she’s usable so long as they don’t mention that she’s a mutant or related to Magneto (which would encroach on Fox’s X-Men contract). Or maybe Wasp, though she was never my favorite. Really I just want a female character on a level with the impossibly powerful folks.

@facebook-589823962:disqus I agree, Joe. I think we’ll definitely see one more female member, which will most likely be Ms. Marvel, Carol Danvers. I don’t see The Scarlet Witch coming into play just yet. The Wasp is a possibility.

Yeah, I highly doubt Ms. Marvel will be in Avengers 2 with out the Kree and Skrull as well. Seeing how Thanos is shaping up to be the big baddie dont hold your breath. It is not out of the question but highly unlikely. Wasp is realistic especially if she is introduced in Ant Man provided that is released in time.

@22b3b4e7539a2860bb387fe0ca4e478c:disqus You’re too beholden to the comics in this case. Many of the characters we’ve seen brought to life by Whedon and crew have origins and traits that differ drastically from their comics counterparts. It’s perfectly within reason that Carol Danvers can be introduced without the baggage of the Kree, and other convoluted aspects of her history.

    You seem like an asshole.

@twitter-485825689:disqus – “Seem like an asshole?” Aww shucks, I was going for full-blown asshole status. Oh well, maybe next time. Now if you’ll excuse me, you’ve hurt my feelings, so I need to go stare at more motivational Vin Disesel photoshop magic to restore my shattered self-esteem. Good day, sir.

Id rather see Dijimon Hounsou as The Vision.
