Christian Bale has left the mantle of the Dark Knight behind, and it looks like the next time we see a new actor don the cape and cowl will be in Warner Bros. superhero team up movie, The Justice League, in 2015. The Batman fan site Batman on Film reportedly received some information that Warners is planning on skipping over another Batman solo movie – which, realistically, didn’t have much of a chance of getting off the ground for a quickie 2014 release, anyway - in order to debut the new incarnation of the Dark Knight Detective in the Justice League film, which has a finished script by Will Beall and is screaming towards a Summer 2015 release date.

I really don’t see an issue with this decision at all. It’s not like audiences are going to be sitting in darkened theaters, popcorn in hand, watching the JLA movie and thinking to themselves, “Who the heck is that feller with the pointy ears?” Everyone knows who Batman is and what he’s all about — the character doesn’t need a an establishing solo film to introduce him to a cinematic world like Thor or Iron Man did, so if he shows up in the Justice League movie fully realized, and without a needless origin story, I’m completely fine with it. The last thing anyone needs is another trip down crime alley to see Bruce’s parents get shot.

Jeff is the defining voice of his generation. Sadly, that generation exists only in an alternate dimension where George Lucas became supreme overlord of the Earth in 1979 and replaced every television broadcast and theatrical film on the planet with Star Wars and Godzilla movies. In this dimension, he’s just a guy from New England who likes writing snarky things about superheroes, monsters, and robots.

    Well, said, Jeff.
    I completely agree.
Now– let’s cross our fingers and hope for the best.
