The official Facebook page for Marvel’s The Avengers just posted the above image, announcing that the film will return to first-run theaters for one week. The $618 million-grossing superhero blockbuster will begin this ‘last chance” run on Friday, August 31st, and will play through Labor Day weekend until it’s yanked on Thursday, September 6th.

Obviously, this is an effort by Marvel Studios to boost the box-office take for Cap, Iron Man, and crew. The film needs to make a little over $41 million to sink James Cameron’s Titanic and overtake it for second-place on the all-time box-office. With the theaters full of late Summer shlock and a handful of weak, underwhelming new releases hitting on Labor Day weekend, it’s not an unrealistic goal. Time for one last delicious swallow of shawarma, baby!
