The Geek League of America is sad to report the passing of actor Michael Clarke Duncan at the age of 54. The imposing, deep-voiced Duncan died in a Los Angeles hospital following a severe heart attack suffered back in July. Duncan starred in numerous genre roles over his career, most notably as The Kingpin in 2003′s Daredevil, Manute from Frank Miller’s Sin City in 2006, and as the voice of Corps resident tough guy Kilowog in 2011′s Green Lantern. He lent his low, baritone vocals to numerous animated series and video games over the years as well. He had tremendous presence, and a huge, beaming smile that lit up the screen. RIP, Michael.

Jeff is the defining voice of his generation. Sadly, that generation exists only in an alternate dimension where George Lucas became supreme overlord of the Earth in 1979 and replaced every television broadcast and theatrical film on the planet with Star Wars and Godzilla movies. In this dimension, he’s just a guy from New England who likes writing snarky things about superheroes, monsters, and robots.
