Bad news for Marvelites looking to get their greedy paws on the sweet Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One Boxset, which was to include all six Marvel Studios Blu-rays and a light-up replica of the Tesseract, all packaged inside a briefcase similar to the one Nick Fury used to house the cosmic cube in The Avengers. Too similar, actually.

It turns out, the designers of the briefcase didn’t have a problem with Marvel using their attaché in the film, but they never agreed to allow Marvel to replicate the briefcase for licensing purposes. Now, orders for the set are being delayed until Spring 2013, so Marvel can design new packaging. Oops.

Naturally, this has caused an uproar among fans and collectors who pre-ordered the set and expected to have it on their doorsteps on September 25th. They’ll simply have to make do with the plain ol’ Blu-ray now. I know, I know, #firstworldproblems

Jeff is the defining voice of his generation. Sadly, that generation exists only in an alternate dimension where George Lucas became supreme overlord of the Earth in 1979 and replaced every television broadcast and theatrical film on the planet with Star Wars and Godzilla movies. In this dimension, he’s just a guy from New England who likes writing snarky things about superheroes, monsters, and robots.
