Michael Shannon is a terrifying human being. If I was this reporter I’d be nodding politely while listening to his answers, but inside my head I’d be repeating over and over - please sir, don’t murder me where I stand. There’s no question the guy is going to make an incredibly scary Zod, regardless of how Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel turns out.

Henry Cavill, on the other hand, concerns me deeply. I’ve never seen The Tudors, but I sat through The Immortals, and Cavill was a completely blank cipher in that film. He wasn’t horrible, but he didn’t project anything unique or memorable, either. He was just…there. Shannon seems to think he’s going to be all right, though – you can watch him gush about Cavill’s work ethic as an actor in this video interview below. (as an aside, if all you can say about a fellow actor is that he works hard, is that just a nice way of saying, “well, he tries hard, but he basically sucks?’

Jeff is the defining voice of his generation. Sadly, that generation exists only in an alternate dimension where George Lucas became supreme overlord of the Earth in 1979 and replaced every television broadcast and theatrical film on the planet with Star Wars and Godzilla movies. In this dimension, he’s just a guy from New England who likes writing snarky things about superheroes, monsters, and robots.
