In a stunning and dramatic turn of events, Gina Carano has come out of nowhere to land a role in the female version of The Expendables. And when I say “stunning and dramatic turn of events,” I mean, “completely obvious casting that everyone knew was coming as soon as the project was announced.” Of course Carano is the first actress to officially sign on for this film. She is the female badass du jour after kicking Michael Fassbender and Channing Tatum’s asses in Steven Soderberg’s Haywire. And as the untitled film’s producer/financer Adi Shankar told Variety, he really didn’t have any other choice:

“I don’t know how I’m supposed to make a movie that is supposed to be the female version of The Expendables without Gina Carano in it. It would be like making Twix without caramel or Jamba Juice without jamba.”

The awesomely named newcomer Dutch Southern is currently hard at work on the screenplay, and other names that have been rumored for this female action flick include Milla Jovovich (a surefire lock), Michelle Yeoh, Sigourney Weaver, Kate Beckinsale, Jennifer Lawrence (not a shot in hell), and Angelina Jolie (never). So, what woman warrior would you like to see in this film?

In this dimension, he’s just a guy from New England who likes writing snarky things about superheroes, monsters, and robots.

Michelle Rodiguez has to be there, if Jet Li make it to the male version, Rodriguez has to be there for the girls

@facebook-547329615:disqus Ah! Of course! How could I forget Michelle “Angry latina with a haunted past who always dies in the end for the greater good” Rodriguez? She’s a lock for this.
