Wow…two trailers starring famous Scientologists exploring a post-apocalyptic Earth in two days? What are the odds? First we had Tom Cruise playing a human Wall-E in the Oblivion trailer, and today we get a preview of Will and Jaden Smith’s sci-fi vanity project/Scientology propaganda flick – After Earth. And make no mistake, this thing is blatant Scientology propganda. Hell, Will Smith practically delivers a Scientology sermon to his son in the trailer, telling him that fear is just a product of his thoughts, yadda yadda yadda. (Overcoming fear and doubt, and becoming “clear” are major tenets of Scientology.)

After Earth is directed by M. Night Shyamalan, who is in dire need of a comeback film in the wake of disasters like The Happening and The Last Airbender. This time around, he’ll be working off of someone else’s script, so he won’t have the opportunity to write himself a self-fellating cameo or a twist ending in the movie.

P.S. –  I also like how this trailer re-creates the opening airplane crash from LOST, only this time, its a spaceship.

Jeff Carter

Jeff is the defining voice of his generation. Sadly, that generation exists only in an alternate dimension where George Lucas became supreme overlord of the Earth in 1979 and replaced every television broadcast and theatrical film on the planet with Star Wars and Godzilla movies. In this dimension, he’s just a guy from New England who likes writing snarky things about superheroes, monsters, and robots.
