SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON 2013 RECAP: DAY ONE

0

Sadly, the Geek League does not yet have the resources to send a crew to geek Valhalla—aka San Diego Comic-Con, but hell, other sites do, so here’s a ton of links and images from various Interweb outlets of the major stuff presented on the first day of the event. On Monday, I’ll post a much bigger recap/linkfarm covering days 2-4 of the Convention, so if you fall behind following everything spilling out of its hallowed halls, just come back then and I’ll get you up to speed on all the major announcements, trailers, panels, etc. Ain’t I a swell guy?

Amazing Spider-Man 2

We saw our first look at footage of Jamie Foxx as Electro (and heard him speak, too), in this promo clip for Sony’s Hall H presentation.

Director Marc Webb revealed that Paul Giamatti’s Rhino is “only in a few scenes,” and Electro is the primary villain of the movie. Duh.

Here’s two banners for the film released at the Con:

The viral marketing campaign for the X-Men time travel epic also fired up on Thursday, and it’s focused on Bolivar Trask’s (Peter Dinklage’s character) Sentinel robot program. 20th Century Fox showed off a Sentinel head and several propaganda posters from Trask Industries:

PREDATOR: 3D BLU-RAY

The classic Ahh-nuld flick is getting the 3D Blu-ray treatment, and as an extra incentive to buy the disc, Comic-Con attendees were offered a special exclusive: a 3D-remdered model of their decapitated head being held by the Predator! Awesome! [Source: Badass Digest]

Sadly, that generation exists only in an alternate dimension where George Lucas became supreme overlord of the Earth in 1979 and replaced every television broadcast and theatrical film on the planet with Star Wars and Godzilla movies. In this dimension, he’s just a guy from New England who likes writing snarky things about superheroes, monsters, and robots.
