LEAGUECAST – Episode #19: Interview With Weta Workshop’s DANIEL FALCONER

Our The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug week continues on the Geek League of America with an exclusive LeagueCast interview with Weta Workshop designer/conceptual artist/author Daniel Falconer! Daniel started off working on the Hercules and Xena TV shows, and was soon designing many of the iconic weapons, costumes, props, and characters in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings film trilogy. He was also heavily involved in the conceptual design phase on films such as King Kong, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion,  The Witch, and The Wardrobe, Avatar, and the new Hobbit trilogy. Currently, Falconer is spearheading the publishing efforts at Weta, writing and collating the new book series The Hobbit Chronicles. The first book in the series The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Chronicles: Art & Design, is on shelves on December 13.

Falconer also broke some exclusive news to the Geek League!  Falconer says the first of the smaller Chronicle Companion books Adam alludes to in his interview has just been announced,  The book is called The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug: Smaug. It will be 96 pages long, devoted entirely to the Dragon. Look for it in March/April!

About Author

Adam Moreau

Adam Moreau is a television advertising salesman by day and a geek by night (some would argue he's still a geek during the day). Growing up, he developed his love for film through trips to the movies, his local video store, hours of HBO, and further viewings of horrible copies of those same video store movies. These days, he watches more movies and TV than he has time for. In fact, he's probably watching something right now. He is married, has two kids, and is raising them in the ways of the Force.
