A BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA Comic Book Is A Thing That Is Happening

“When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol’ Jack Burton always says at a time like that: “Have ya paid your dues, Jack?” “Yessir, the check is in the mail.”

Oh my God. I love John Carpenter’s Big Trouble In Little China with every fiber of my being. It’s weird, hilarious, action-packed, and full of memorable quotes. In fact, I don’t think a day goes by in my life where I don’t just randomly blurt out a Jack Burton or Lo-Pan line. Now it looks as if BOOM! Studios, producers of movie and TV-themed comics, is rolling out a Big Trouble In Little China comic book, as evidenced by this gorgeous Eric Powell teaser image. No word yet on when it’s coming or who’s involved, but you can bet your six-demon bag I’ll be first in line to read this sucker.

Jeff is the defining voice of his generation. Sadly, that generation exists only in an alternate dimension where George Lucas became supreme overlord of the Earth in 1979 and replaced every television broadcast and theatrical film on the planet with Star Wars and Godzilla movies. In this dimension, he’s just a guy from New England who likes writing snarky things about superheroes, monsters, and robots.
