LEAGUECAST – Episode #30: BATMAN 25th Anniversary

25 years ago this week, director Tim Burton and Warner Brothers unleashed Batman into cinemas, and supehero movies were never the same. Join Jeff, Shawn, Adam and special guest host Marc Lapierre of The Super Fogeys webcomic, as they reminisce about one of the most influential and mass-merchandised Hollywood blockbusters of all time. The League discusses the cultural relevance of the film, its impact on modern superhero blockbusters, the controversial casting of Michael Keaton as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Jack Nicholson’s iconic Joker performance, and they also spout off their favorite lines of dialogue from the movie! All this, plus the usual spirited round of GEEK TRUE OR FALSE, with topics ranging from a possible releasde date delay for Star Wars: Episode VII, to Doctor Strange rumors to who Rosario Dawson could be playing in the Daredevil Netflix series.

Jeff Carter

Jeff is the defining voice of his generation. Sadly, that generation exists only in an alternate dimension where George Lucas became supreme overlord of the Earth in 1979 and replaced every television broadcast and theatrical film on the planet with Star Wars and Godzilla movies. In this dimension, he’s just a guy from New England who likes writing snarky things about superheroes, monsters, and robots.
