LEAGUECAST #104 – COUNTDOWN TO THE FORCE AWAKENS Week 5 – THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK

0

Our COUNTDOWN TO THE FORCE AWAKENS is nearing an end, and this week The LeagueCast crew takes a look at what many consider to be the greatest Star Wars movie ever made — Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. Jeff, Shawn, and Adam discuss George Lucas’ huge gamble to risk his Star Wars fortune on financing Empire himself to keep creative control away from the studio, his decision to bring in Irvin Kirshner to direct, the overall darker tone of the film, the Han-Leia romance, the introduction of Yoda into the pantheon of great Star Wars characters, the brilliant John Williams’ score, Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian, Boba Fett’s badassery, and of course, what could possibly be the single most memorable line of dialogue in cinema history!

As always, you can listen to the LeagueCast right here in your browser, download the MP3 file, or check out the show and subscribe to the podcast in the iTunes store or on Stitcher Smart Radio. About Author

Jeff Carter

Jeff is the defining voice of his generation. Sadly, that generation exists only in an alternate dimension where George Lucas became supreme overlord of the Earth in 1979 and replaced every television broadcast and theatrical film on the planet with Star Wars and Godzilla movies. In this dimension, he’s just a guy from New England who likes writing snarky things about superheroes, monsters, and robots.
