I realize that a “Top Ten Best Movies of 2011” list isn’t exactly timely at this point, but I blame the movie studios for releasing approximately 437 films during the last two weeks of December, several of which I’m certain would’ve made this list had I had time to actually go see them.

Was 2011 a great year for film? Well, yes and no. It certainly was much better than last year’s crop of freshly-laid turds, many of which made me question my continued desire to live on a planet that allows January Jones to have a lucrative TV and movie career.

NEW YORK COMIC-CON 2011 – AN ESSAY

The oversized LCD numbers of the alarm clock which read 4:21. Their eerie green radiance mocked me as I dragged myself, zombie-like, out of bed and into the shower. As the hot water splashed on my face, I had to put all thoughts of royal suicide and lack of decent sleep behind me, because today was no ordinary sit-in-a-cublicle day. Today I was going to my first “major” Con, and my first Con as a member of the Geek Press. Today was New York Comic Con 2011 day.

CONVENTION REPORT – ‘CONNECTICON 2011’

On a sweltering July Friday, yours truly and two of my best GLA staffers drove about 45 minutes south of The Legendary Hall of Virginity to scope out and file a report on ConnectiCon, one of the largest fan conventions in the Northeast United States. The ConnectiCon draws an estimated 8,000 cosplayers, gamers, manga/comic readers, action figure collectors, and Sci-Fi fans every year over the course of a three-day run time to its enormous, bright, and clean facilities at the mammoth Hartford Convention center.

10 GOOD THINGS ABOUT…THE STAR WARS PREQUELS

As a life-long Star Wars fan, I decided to try to counter all this hater-ade drinking by taking on the challenge of compiling a list of at least ten genuinely awesome things about the Star Wars Prequels.
